Border Crossing Requirements for Tourists

Please note that all foreign citizens traveling to Georgia for tourism purposes (both visa-required and visa-exempt nationals) must be able to present the following documents at the Georgian state border, if requested by the MIA Border Police of Georgia:

Valid passport - Issued within the last 10 years. The validity period of the travel document shall exceed the validity period of the visa by at least three months;
Proof of accommodation - hotel confirmation or a letter from a Host providing accommodation, duly verified by a notary;
Round flight ticket;
Travel health and accident insurance;
Proof of Financial Means - A bank reference, other financial documents, or sufficient cash to cover your travel and stay expenses.

Final decision to cross the border is made by the Georgian Immigration Authority and Embassy is not in charge of any decision made by Border authorities.

Who Needs a Visa?

According to the Ordinance №255 approved by the government of Georgia, citizens of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for 1 (one) full year.
According to the Ordinance №255 approved by the government of Georgia, citizens of the Republic of Lebanon may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for 1 (one) full year.
Citizens of The Republic of Iraq must obtain a visa before entering the territory of Georgia.
Study or Work Purpose: In order to visit Georgia for study or work purposes, citizens of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Lebanon, and the Republic of Iraq need to obtain a visa.
Third-Country Visa/Residency Holders: If you have a valid visa or residency (a sticker on the passport, not e-visa paper) in one of the countries listed in the link below, you can travel directly to Georgia without applying for a visa. - Enter your country of citizenship;
- Choose the relevant passport type;
- Indicate how long you plan to stay in Georgia;
- If you hold a visa or residence permit from another country (like the EU, U.S., GCC, etc.), choose that country. Otherwise, click "NEXT".

Who Can Apply at the Embassy of Georgia in Jordan?

The Embassy of Georgia in Jordan is authorized to accept visa applications only from:

Citizens of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Republic of Lebanon, and Republic of Iraq;
Holders of a valid residence permit or a valid multiple-entry visa issued by Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Republic of Lebanon, and Republic of Iraq;

NOTE: The residence permit or multiple-entry visa must be valid for at least 6 months from the issuance date of the Georgian visa.

In all other cases, you must apply at the Georgian Embassy accredited to your country of origin, or at a Georgian Embassy located in a third country that covers your country of origin. You can check the list of Georgian Embassies at the: https://geoconsul.gov.ge/en/entering-georgia by following these steps:

Click on “DO I NEED VISA?”
Enter your country of citizenship;
Choose the relevant passport type;
Indicate how long you plan to stay in Georgia;
If you hold a visa or residence permit from another country (like the EU, U.S., GCC, etc.), choose that country. Otherwise, click "NEXT".

Visa Application Procedure (For Visa Required Applicants)

Applicants who are required to obtain a visa to enter Georgia must strictly follow the application procedure outlined below:

1. Document Preparation & Fee Payment:

Gather all required supporting documents based on your visa category (you can check the visa categories below).
Pay the visa fee of 20 USD. The fee must be deposited directly into the Embassy’s consular account at Arab Bank in Jordan (Account Number: 0118 276 758 9 511). Submitting the bank payment receipt at the Embassy is mandatory.

2. Online Application & Appointment Scheduling:

Submit your visa application in electronic form through the official website: https://geoconsul.gov.ge/en (Please refer to the instructions below on how to fill out the online application).
Upload all required supporting documents along with the bank payment receipt to the portal.
Schedule an appointment for a personal visit to the Embassy through the portal.
Appointment Slots: If the system is not displaying available slots for appointments, it means all slots have been booked. Applicants must check the calendar frequently and try to submit their visa application when a free slot becomes available.
Application Form: At the end of the online application process, a PDF version of the completed application form will be sent to the email address you provided. Print and sign this application form, and bring the physical signed copy to your appointment.
Please keep the login details provided at the end of the submission process to manage your visa application in the future.
Separate Applications: Each applicant must submit their visa application separately, including family members traveling together.

3. In-Person Appointment at the Embassy

Mandatory Visit: An in-person visit to the Embassy is mandatory for all visa categories. NO ONLINE interviews are available. DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED BY POST OR EMAIL WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Upon appearing at the Embassy of Georgia on the appointed date, the applicant is required to submit the originals of all documents for the visa application.

4. Processing Time & Visa Issuance:

Ordinary Visa: The processing time is 10 working days.
Immigration Visa: The processing time is 30 calendar days.
D3 Student Visa: Different processing times apply to D3 student visas. Please see the Student Visa section for details.
In rare cases, the processing time may be extended for all visa categories.
An ordinary visa is issued with a single entry.
An immigration visa is issued with multiple entries and is valid for 90 calendar days.
Visa Sticker: If the visa application is approved, the applicant will be notified via the email address provided in their application and must then present their passport at the Embassy for the visa sticker to be attached.

Filling out the online application:

1. Enter the website: https://www.geoconsul.gov.ge/en;

2. Click on “E-APPLICATION REGISTRATION (VISIT PLANNING)”

3. Click on “CREATE PERSONAL SPACE”

4. Enter your Personal Information >> CONFIRM.

5. Indicate your citizenship.

6. CHOOSE THE GEORGIAN CONSULAR OFFICE - Embassy of Georgia to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. >> NEXT

7. Choose the RELEVANT SERVICE – VISA OF GEORGIA;

8. If you are an ordinary passport holder – Choose IMMIGRATION, ORDINARY AND TRANSIT VISAS.

9. Choose VISIT TO THE CONSULATE – Choose date of appointment, Choose time.

10. Upload a recent biometric photograph with a white background and clear facial features (digital photo 472x610 pixels in dimension; scanned photo – 4x5.16cm in size, scanned at 300 DPI resolution). The face should cover 80% of the picture. Upload the photo in the photo section at the beginning of the application.

11. Please enter all information very carefully and in a detailed manner.

12. Upload all documents in the exact order given below (the Embassy may request additional information/document):

Kindly make sure to upload each document separately and to name each document properly, for example; passport, visa fees, hotel reservation, etc.

A confirmation of your appointment will be sent to you along with a User Name and Password for your application, enabling you to make changes and upload other documents if needed. However, the online application will only be accessible for three days. For any future changes, you will need to fill out a new application.

Please provide accurate dates for arrival and departure from Georgia as the visa will cover those dates exactly.

Upon appearing at the Embassy of Georgia on the appointed date, the applicant is required to submit the originals of all documents for the visa application.

Required Documents by Visa Category

FOR ORDINARY (SHORT TERM) VISA:

1. Scanned copy of passport - issued within the last 10 years. The validity period of the travel document shall exceed the validity period of the visa by at least three months; it shall not be damaged and shall not contain unofficial records;

2. Biometric Photo - The Embassy does not accept photos in a material form;

3. Letter of accommodation (hotel reservation or a letter from a Georgian citizen providing accommodation, duly verified by a notary).

4. Round flight ticket reservation;

5. Travel health and accident insurance for the period of your stay in Georgia. The insurance policy may be issued by either a Georgian or a foreign insurance company, and the insured amount must be no less than 30,000 GEL.

6. Bank reference for the past 6 months or other financial supporting documents demonstrating sufficient funds to cover travel and stay expenses during the visit to Georgia.

7. Invitation Letter - For short-term visits to Georgia for business purposes, official meetings, conferences, seminars, trainings, or other similar activities, the applicant must also submit an invitation letter from the inviting organization, company, institution, or host party in Georgia, indicating the purpose and duration of the visit.

8. The bank receipt that shows the deposit of the visa fees.

9. Two signed application forms (to be downloaded, signed, scanned, and uploaded to the program).

NOTE: At the end of the application, a PDF version of the application will be sent to the email address you provided in the application. Print and sign on the page and make sure to upload this document too.

NOTE: The short-term visa is issued for a single entry only. Travel insurance and accommodation must fully cover the entire duration of stay in Georgia.

FOR D1 IMMIGRATION (WORKING) VISA:

2. Biometric Photo - The Embassy does not accept photos in a material form;

3. Letter of accommodation (hotel reservation or a letter from a Georgian citizen providing accommodation, duly verified by a notary).

4. Proof of the purpose of traveling to Georgia must include an employment contract that details the duration of employment, salary, position, and all other necessary information. The signatures of the parties on the contract must be notarized. Alternatively, an extract from the public registry demonstrating that the foreign national is a founder/co-founder or an authorized representative of a registered entrepreneurial (commercial) legal entity in Georgia must be provided;

5. Certificate from the Revenue Service of Georgia (for the last 6 months) if an employer is a legal/ entrepreneurial entity registered in Georgia or any other proof of income or turnover (e.g. bank statement)

6. Certificate from the Public Registry of Georgia if an employer is registered in Georgia;

7. Resume, proof of qualification, reference letters;

8. Unique code issued by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia in accordance with the Law on Labor Migration;

9. Flight ticket reservation;

10. Travel health and accident insurance for the period of your stay in Georgia.

11. Bank reference for the past 6 months.

12. The bank receipt that shows the deposit of the visa fees.

13. Two signed application forms (to be downloaded, signed, scanned, and uploaded to the program).

NOTE: The visa is issued with the right of multiple entries and a 90-calendar day validity. Travel insurance and accommodation must fully cover this entire period of stay in Georgia.

FOR D3 IMMIGRATION (STUDY) VISA:

2. Biometric Photo - The Embassy does not accept photos in a material form;

3. Letter of accommodation (statement of University, hotel booking, or rent agreement indicating an amount of rent and conditions together with the proof of ownership from the Registry of Georgia, or a written notarized consent of owner indicating an amount of rent and conditions together with the proof of ownership from the Registry of Georgia);

4. Flight ticket reservation;

5. Travel health and accident insurance for the period of your stay in Georgia.

6. Proof of financial funds: A document confirming that applicant will cover from own funds all the expenses; A notarized affidavit of sponsorship with the sponsor’s passport copy, a bank statement from the sponsor covering the last 6 months. A document confirming receipt of a grant or study financing. A document confirming the existence of a scholarship;

7. If application is made by a representative, document evidencing such representative powers must be presented. For minors (under 18), notarized written consent of parents (with passport copies and birth certificate) must be presented.

8. The Order issued by the Ministry of Education and Youth of Georgia allowing to study in Georgia without attending the National Exams;

9. The Order/Acceptance letter confirming the admission to an authorized educational institution of Georgia and proof of payment of the compulsory part of the tuition fee issued by University

10. Document confirming the existence of the foreign language education program in the authorized educational institution in which applicant has been enrolled;

11. Proof of a valid residence permit or multiple-entry visa issued by Jordan, Lebanon, or Iraq is required for third-country nationals (must be valid for at least 6 months from the issuance date of the Georgian visa).

12. The bank receipt that shows the deposit of the visa fees.

13. Two signed application forms (to be downloaded, signed, scanned, and uploaded to the program).

NOTE: The visa is issued with the right of multiple entries and a 90-calendar day validity. Travel insurance and accommodation must fully cover this entire period of stay in Georgia.

NOTE: Applicants for a D3 student visa may request expedited processing with a decision issued:

On the 30th calendar day – 20 USD (Standard processing);
On the 15th working day – 100 USD (Expedited processing);
On the 10th working day – 200 USD (Expedited processing).

Applicants may choose this service when completing the visa application on the Geoconsul portal.

Working days are calculated according to the official working days in Georgia (Monday to Friday). The processing period begins once the applicant has physically submitted all required documents in complete form to the Embassy.

In case of a positive decision, a study visa shall be issued with the right of multiple entries and a 90-calendar day validity. Study visa holders shall apply for a residence permit to the LEPL Public Service Hall/LEPL Public Service Development Agency no later than 45 days before their lawful stay in Georgia expires.

FOR D4 IMMIGRATION (Family Reunification) VISA:

2. Biometric Photo - The Embassy does not accept photos in a material form;

3. Letter of accommodation (hotel reservation or a letter from a Georgian citizen providing accommodation, duly verified by a notary).

4. Flight ticket reservation;

5. Travel health and accident insurance for the period of your stay in Georgia.

6. A document confirming that a person already legally staying in Georgia (on the grounds of residence permit or Immigration visa) is a family member of an applicant (a marriage certificate, children’s birth certificate, etc.)

7. Bank reference for the past 6 months or other financial supporting documents demonstrating sufficient funds to cover travel and stay expenses during the visit to Georgia.

8. The bank receipt that shows the deposit of the visa fees. Family members of Georgian citizens are exempt from this requirement.

9. Two signed application forms (to be downloaded, signed, scanned, and uploaded to the program).

NOTE: The visa is issued with the right of multiple entries and a 90-calendar day validity. Travel insurance and accommodation must fully cover this entire period of stay in Georgia.

FOR D5 IMMIGRATION (PROPERTY OWNERSHIP) VISA:

2. Biometric Photo - The Embassy does not accept photos in a material form;

3. Letter of accommodation (hotel reservation or a letter from a Georgian citizen providing accommodation, duly verified by a notary).

4. Flight ticket reservation;

5. Travel health and accident insurance for the period of your stay in Georgia.

6. Proof of ownership of property/real estate in Georgia;

7. Document confirming the market value of the property/real estate (the market value of the property/real estate is assessed by a certified appraiser operating under a legal entity of public law - national accreditation body accredited by the accreditation center. The real estate must have a value that exceeds the equivalent of 150,000 US dollars in GEL)

8. The bank receipt that shows the deposit of the visa fees.

9. Two signed application forms (to be downloaded, signed, scanned, and uploaded to the program).

NOTE: The visa is issued with the right of multiple entries and a 90-calendar day validity. Travel insurance and accommodation must fully cover this entire period of stay in Georgia.
