Ambassador’s Welcome Speech

Welcome to the official website of the Embassy of Georgia to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Our diplomatic accreditation also covers the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Lebanon.

In my capacity as the Georgian Ambassador, I am immensely privileged to represent my nation in historically and culturally rich Jordan and also non-resident Ambassador to Iraq and Lebanon, countries with rich and enduring histories.

It is noteworthy that throughout the centuries, we have demonstrated our determination to grow our interaction. Today, our objective is to strengthen our friendship based on our historical legacy.

In recent years, significant progress has been made in various areas of engagement with each state where our Embassy is accredited. We have established important frameworks of collaboration with the main goal of nurturing political, cultural, and economic relations. These joint efforts will undoubtedly contribute to the shared pursuit of enhancing the prosperity of our nations.

From this perspective, the visit the Georgian Prime Minister to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 2022 holds great significance. During the visit, Irakli Garibashvili met with His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein, Custodian of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, who generously decided to allocate 4,000 square meters of land to Georgia at the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ at Bethany Beyond the Jordan. With the blessing of His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia, the Georgian Cultural Center will be established on the Site.

We deeply appreciate the support extended by our friendly nations for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. This support is based on mutual respect, friendship, and shared values.

Georgia is widely acknowledged as a significant actor in the region due to its stability and appeal for investment. Its strategic geographical position as a link between Europe and Asia makes it an excellent business destination. Georgia takes pride in providing a cost-efficient and business-conducive atmosphere, a competitive workforce, and unhindered access to major markets. This unique combination positions it as an ideal choice for nearshoring, resulting in reduced costs and mitigated risks.

In the foreseeable future, our objective is to bolster the connections between our states by fostering heightened mutual awareness of our cultural heritage. Conducting direct flights between our capitals is on our agenda to support trade and economic cooperation, as well as to solidify our cultural and people-to-people contacts.
