Working Visit of the Georgian National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation

On 17–21 November 2025, with the support of the Embassy of Georgia in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, a delegation of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, led by the Agency’s Director General, Tea Oniani, conducted a working visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

On 18 November, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia and the Department of Antiquities of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Memorandum aims to strengthen cooperation in the research and promotion of cultural heritage, which will further deepen bilateral relations in the cultural field.

On the same day, the Agency’s delegation visited the site of the 11th-century Georgian Monastery of Shihan, located in the Karak region on Mount Shihan, and reviewed the results of the ongoing archaeological excavations.

On 19 November, a meeting was held with Yazn Mahadin, Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, Petra Archaeological Park and Tourism.

On 20 November, the Agency’s delegation held a meeting with Rustum Khajian, the head of the administration of the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ, and visited Mount Nebo and the city of Madaba, known for its ancient mosaic traditions.
